Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC)

FINSIN® CMC, as good emulsifier, stabilizer, thickener…

Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC)

FSX Chemical ®Printing & Dyeing Grade CMC is a white to creamy-white, odorless, and tasteless powder. It dissolves readily in water to form a clear, viscous solution. The uniformity of substitution along the cellulose backbone is a hallmark of our product, ensuring smooth, homogenous pastes free of gels or insoluble particles. This makes it an ideal choice for use as a stock thickening paste, in textile printing (especially with vat and pigment dyes), and as a finishing agent to impart body and stiffness to fabrics. Its consistent quality and performance make it a more reliable and stable alternative to many natural products.

Introduction

FSX Chemical ® Printing & Dyeing Grade Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is a highly purified, water-soluble cellulose ether, specifically designed to function as a versatile thickener, binder, and rheology modifier in the textile industry. It is widely applied in printing pastes, warp sizing, and fabric finishing. With a high degree of substitution (DS), our CMC offers exceptional acid and salt resistance, ensuring its viscosity remains stable in complex chemical environments. Its film-forming capability provides a protective colloid action, enhancing production efficiency and final fabric quality.

Functional Property

  • High Degree of Substitution (DS): Our high-DS CMC offers superior performance as a thickening agent for various printing inks and pastes, demonstrating excellent resistance to acids and salts, which is critical for paste stability.
  • Stable Rheology: The prepared paste exhibits stable viscosity over time and can be used in conjunction with other natural or synthetic pastes. This stability is crucial for consistent print quality across long production runs.
  • Reduced Reactivity: A higher degree of substitution effectively minimizes the interaction between the hydroxyl groups of the cellulose and reactive dyes. This leads to better color yield and facilitates easier washing off (desizing).
  • Enhanced Fabric Feel: Our CMC products are engineered for easy desizing, resulting in a softer texture and improved handfeel of the final printed fabric.
  • Customizable Viscosity: We produce a wide range of CMC grades with varying viscosities and degrees of substitution, allowing for customized solutions tailored to the specific requirements of our clients’ printing pastes and finishing processes.
  • Superior Film-Forming: In warp sizing, it forms a strong, flexible, and abrasion-resistant film on the yarn, significantly reducing breakage during weaving and improving overall efficiency.

Packing and Storage

Packing: Our Printing & Dyeing Grade CMC is packaged in 25kg net weight, multi-ply paper bags with an internal moisture-proof polyethylene layer. This composite packaging is designed to offer maximum protection and maintain the free-flowing powder characteristics of the product.

Storage:

  1. To preserve product quality and rheological properties, store in a cool, dry, and clean facility. A temperature below 40℃ and relative humidity of ≤80% is optimal.
  2. During transportation and storage, the product must be kept separate from any toxic, hazardous, or odorous materials.
  3. Protect packaging from water damage and punctures. Any damaged bags should be isolated to prevent contamination of the entire lot.
  4. This industrial product is highly stable, with a preservation period not to exceed 4 years from its manufacturing date when stored in compliance with these conditions.
