Introduction

FSX Chemical ® Sodium Alginate is a high-purity anionic polysaccharide meticulously extracted from select brown algae. Specifically engineered for the textile industry, it serves as a premier thickener for reactive dye printing processes. Unlike starch-based thickeners, our sodium alginate is a non-reactive polymer, meaning it does not form covalent bonds with reactive dyes. This crucial characteristic ensures that the full vibrancy and chroma of the dye are transferred to the fabric, resulting in sharper prints, superior color yield, and a luxuriously soft handfeel. Its unique rheological properties provide the precise viscosity control required for modern high-speed printing machinery.

Functional Property

  • Superior Color Yield & Brilliance: Exhibits excellent non-reactivity with reactive dyes, maximizing the dye fixation rate on cellulosic and protein fibers. This results in exceptionally bright and vivid color reproduction.
  • Sharp & Clear Print Definition: Our Sodium Alginate creates a printing paste with optimal pseudoplasticity, ensuring high viscosity at low shear (for storage stability) and shear thinning at high shear rates (during printing). This rheological control produces sharp, well-defined patterns without bleeding or smudging.
  • Excellent Wash-off Properties: Forms a smooth, flexible, and easily soluble film that is completely removed during the washing process. This guarantees a soft fabric handfeel, free from the stiffness often associated with inferior thickeners.
  • High Electrolyte Resistance: Maintains stable viscosity even in the presence of high concentrations of electrolytes and alkalis common in reactive dye recipes, ensuring consistent paste performance from start to finish.

Packing and Storage

Our Sodium Alginate is packaged in 25kg net weight, heavy-duty, multi-layer kraft paper bags. Each bag incorporates a heat-sealed inner polyethylene (PE) liner, providing a robust barrier against atmospheric moisture and ensuring product integrity during transit and storage. Custom packaging solutions are available upon client request.

Storage:

  1. Store in original, unopened packaging in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Recommended temperature below 35℃ with relative humidity under 75%.
  2. Due to its highly hygroscopic nature, opened bags should be resealed immediately to prevent moisture absorption, which can lead to caking and loss of viscosity.
  3. Product should be stored on pallets, away from contact with floors and walls. A “first-in, first-out” (FIFO) stock rotation is highly recommended.
  4. To ensure optimal performance, the product has a recommended shelf life of 36 months from the date of manufacture.
