What is Sodium Alginate?

What is sodium alginate?

Sodium alginate is a seaweed-derived, water-soluble polysaccharide widely used as a textile printing thickener. In reactive dye printing, it helps build smooth paste body, stable viscosity, clean print outlines and reliable wash-off after steaming.

What does sodium alginate do in textile printing?

Sodium alginate is mainly used for reactive printing on cotton, viscose, silk and other cellulosic fabrics. It supports paste preparation, screen penetration, color yield, print definition and wash-off performance under proper process conditions.

How should sodium alginate grades be compared?

Sodium alginate grades should be compared by reference viscosity, test concentration, test temperature, hydration conditions, printing process and final paste performance. The same viscosity range may represent different use directions when the test concentration is different.

Sodium alginate should not be selected only by viscosity number. Start from fabric, reactive dye system, paste concentration, printing process and sample performance under actual production conditions.

Not Belirleme Yöntemi

How to choose the right sodium alginate grade

Select sodium alginate by fabric, reactive dye process, paste concentration, viscosity method and sample performance under actual production conditions.

01

Step 1: Confirm fabric and dye process

Start from reactive printing on cotton, viscose, silk or other cellulosic fabrics. Different printing processes may require different paste body and screen behavior.

02

Step 2: Compare concentration and viscosity method

HV, MV and LV may share a similar reference viscosity range but use different test concentrations. Compare concentration, temperature, hydration and testing method before selection.

03

3. Adım: Toplu sipariş vermeden önce test edin

Run laboratory or production-side testing to confirm paste body, color yield, print definition, screen penetration and wash-off before commercial use.

Ürün SSS

Questions buyers ask before selecting a sodium alginate grade

These answers help buyers compare viscosity method, grade direction, samples and documents before sending an inquiry.

01What is sodium alginate used for in textile printing?

Sodium alginate is widely used as a reactive textile printing thickener for cotton, viscose, silk and other cellulosic fabrics. It helps build smooth paste body, stable viscosity, clean print definition, color yield and easy wash-off after steaming.

02How do I choose between HV, MV and LV?

Start from the printing process and paste requirement. HV is positioned for high-body paste and lower dosage, MV for general-purpose reactive printing, and LV for high-speed rotary printing. Final selection should be confirmed by sample testing.

03Why do HV, MV and LV show the same viscosity range?

The reference viscosity range may look similar, but the test concentration is different: HV is tested at 3%, MV at 5%, and LV at 8%. The concentration difference reflects different paste body and application directions.

04Can sodium alginate be replaced by CMC or CMS?

CMC or CMS may be evaluated in selected systems for cost or formulation adjustment, but they are not universal one-to-one replacements for sodium alginate. Suitability depends on dye system, fabric, paste recipe, color yield, wash-off and final print performance.

05FSX Chemical, sipariş onayı öncesinde hangi belgeleri sunabilir?

TDS and SDS can be provided for the selected sodium alginate product route. A batch-specific COA is normally prepared according to confirmed production batch and order requirements.

06How should sodium alginate be stored?

Store sodium alginate sealed in a cool, dry and ventilated place. Avoid moisture exposure after opening. Standard packing is normally 25 kg bag, with customized labels available upon request.
